Police Spotter

Indiana law-enforcement agencies announce checkpoints and enforcement campaigns in advance as a matter of policy. This page is the desk's guide to those announcements: where they are published, what appears in them, and the boundary this desk keeps — announced operations and public notices only.

The official announcement sources

Indiana State Police — Ft. Wayne District 22, on Nixle

The district's standing alert channel: sobriety-checkpoint announcements, crash and road-closure alerts, pursuit and incident releases, and enforcement-campaign notices. The agency publishes as “Indiana State Police–Ft. Wayne District 22–Ft. Wayne, IN” on Nixle; individual alerts also live at nixle.us permalinks.

City of Fort Wayne — News Flash / CivicAlerts

The city's release feed carries FWPD press releases, including enforcement campaigns — for example FWPD's August 13, 2025 release announcing increased impaired-driving enforcement and sobriety checkpoints for the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over period.

Indiana State Police news releases

Statewide and district releases from ISP — stepped-up patrols, checkpoint announcements, holiday enforcement periods — published on the state site. Local releases from these channels are also republished in full by AroundFortWayne's public-safety archive, a convenient single check page; it is a mirror, not a primary source, and this desk cites the agency release behind it.

The campaign calendar behind the releases

The announcements plug into recurring national campaigns, announced through the ISP and city channels above on fixed annual windows: Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over (mid-August through Labor Day), Click It or Ticket (May), and Safe Family Travel / Operation Pull Over (Thanksgiving through December), plus holiday-weekend enforcement periods.

What appears in an announcement

Cadence: as issued. The District 22 channel typically carries several releases a week, and checkpoint notices arrive days ahead of the operation.
